Perhaps a better quote would be "I hate Mondays." I went to work at my usual time and was doing my job when the phone rang sometime between ten and eleven. It was [livejournal.com profile] filodea, asking if I would mind taking the bus home. Her allergies were kicking up and she didn't want to drive all the way to where I worked to picked me up. She promised me ice cream to make up for having to take the bus.

So, I left work five minutes early to catch the bus on time, but I ended up missing it because I had to stop and get change so I could pay for the bus. I wasn't too worried, though, because the next one would be along in half an hour. It didn't actually get there until almost 40 minutes after the previous bus, so I would be cutting it close to catch the bus that would get me home. When I got on, the bus was full and, with so many people, we hit pretty much every bus stop along the route. If no one wanted off, there was usually someone who wanted on.

We were almost to where I needed to get off when I saw the bus I needed to catch on its way to where it needed to be. Good, I thought, I still have a chance of catching it. I got off the bus almost at a dead run and raced over to where the other bus was taking on passengers. I made in time to be the last to get on. I was out of breath from running, but I was glad I made it. The next one wouldn't come for another hour and a half. Because I'd gotten up early to take a shower and catch the bus in the morning, I napped pretty much the whole way, though it was more dozing than the napping the first part of the journey. When Mom picked me up, I asked if we could get lunch instead of ice cream.

On the way, she told me that my twin had been in an accident. We didn't know the details when Mom told me this, but found out later when my twin and dad got home. She was driving behind a bus and was getting ready to move into the next lane over when the bus stopped. She couldn't avoid hitting it, so she slowed down as much as possible and took the hit with the right front corner panel. That'll either need to be replaced or fixed, but that headlight will have to be replaced completely. The guy who'd been driving behind my sister swerved into the next lane to avoid hitting her, which was nice of him, but the woman he cut off had to stop to keep from hitting him and the car behind her hit her and she tried to say it was my sister's fault. My sister disagreed and refused to give her any information, saying she could get it off the police report if she wanted to pursue it. If the woman does pursue it, my sister will tell the inquiring party that there was a man who fled the scene and he caused the woman's accident. Anyway, my sister's fine, and so are the people who were in the car with her. She doesn't think she even moved the bus.

Aside from those two things, not much else happened yesterday. Gandalf decided he wanted to wrestle with my shirt while I was wearing it, but I wouldn't let him. My brother's cat, Spot, likes our bathroom counter for some reason. We've caught him curled up in the sink several times and he was on the counter yesterday morning and this morning. I don't think he likes the heat very much.
