dollydani and I could buy twenty dollars' worth of books from Barnes and Noble. This was very generous of her, considering filodea works there now. *wink* So, I ended up buying The Wide Window (third in Lemony Snicket's series) and The Picture of Dorian Gray. I've already started reading The Picture of Dorian Gray and have finished the first chapter. It's a pocket-sized version, so it fits in my purse. Anyway, I got home and found a package from Amazon.com waiting for me. halls_mistress had ordered a volume of the Oxford History of the United States for me. Specifically, the volume concerning the American war for Independence. *innocent look* I can't imagine why she'd order that for me. I'll read it as soon as I possibly can, but it may be awhile. After dinner, filodea and Dad gave me the gift they'd gotten for me: 1776 by David McCullough. *happy jig* A nice birthday haul. *contented sigh*
