My Hero...

swingjungend has returned home safely. We had lots of fun while she was here. We watched Titanic on Monday and, surprisingly, I rather enjoyed it. I suppose all the hype about the love story between Jack and Rose had turned me off the movie. It was lovely to see Ioan Gruffud Fifth Officer Lowe. He had a lovely Irish accent. I also enjoyed Bernard Hill as Captain Smith, Victor Garber as Thomas Andrews and Kathy Bates as Molly Brown.

On Tuesday, we watched The Great Dictator, starring Charlie Chaplin. I knew I would like that one. I'd only seen clips of him in silent films, so it was cool to see him in a speaking part. When Mom came home and offered to take us out to lunch, I asked if she could take us to the mall, too. She did and I bought Sleepy Hollow while swingjungend bought Sliding Doors. When we got home, umbralillium gave swingjungend an unrated version of An American Haunting, which we'd seen in theaters and enjoyed immensely (James D'Arcy is in it, mylodon!) We watched that Tuesday evening, complete with accompanying thunder from a storm cell nearby.

Wednesday morning, we watched Good Bye Lenin!, a German film set right around the time the Berlin Wall fell. It was lovely and I'm glad swingjungend insisted. We also watched In & Out, starring Kevin Kline. He was very good as the main character, who's said to be gay, but insists he isn't. I recognized some of the mannerisms he used in that when we watched Wild, Wild West Wednesday evening before dinner. *giggle*

Thursday, we went to an information session for a university I'm considering for my graduate work, since it's not too far from where she lives. It's a beautiful location and has a lot to offer. I'll visit the other schools I'm considering before I start applying anywhere. It costs money simply to apply and I need to keep that in mind. Anyway, after the session, we parted ways and she called when she got home to let me know she made it safely.
