My Hero...

I sincerely apologize for disappearing on people. swingjungend invited me to visit for the day yesterday and I went, partly to see her new dorm room, but also to get away from the family for a bit. We eventually ended up going to her house because she's in an older dorm, with no air conditioning, it was over 100 degrees Farenheit, and her room was on the south side of the building, which gets the most sun to begin with. I'm very glad I went. It was lovely to see where she'll be living for the next year or so and to meet one of the friends she's already made. My next visit won't be until it's cooled down. Supposedly, this was the hottest week of summer. We'll see.

Anyway, classes started for me last week. I'm really looking forward to all of them. We received our first homework assignment in my Creative Writing class: to write a flash fiction (500 words or less), that we'll bring into class and eventually expand on. I wrote two. One is on something I've been playing around with for almost a year now. The other was inspired by the RPG swingjungend and I have on GJ. I haven't decided yet which I'm going to submit for the class. For my mythology class, we're going to visit the Getty Villa in December, which I'm quite looking forward to. It's a replica of the villa owned by Julius Ceasar's father-in-law that was buried when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.

I haven't started working yet because I needed to fill out some paperwork so I could be included on the school's payroll. It helped that I worked as a tutor the last time I attended the school, so I didn't have to fill out everything. I'm not sure when I'll start, though I'm pretty sure it'll be this week or next week. I'm hoping, anyway. The hours I've spent training will be included on my first timesheet, so I'll get paid for those at least.
