My Hero...

My twin, Ann, has moved out of the house. We took everything over to her friend's place, where she'll be staying until she can afford a place of her own. We'd shared for most of our lives. Even before we were born. *wink* There were times when we had our own rooms, but, for the most part we've shared. Last night, before I went to bed, the room seemed pretty empty without all of Ann's stuff to take up space. Today, after moving my things around to take advantage of the space, it doesn't seem quite so empty. I have a filing cabinet, desk, and three-drawer chest along one wall, with a TV, DVD player, and VCR on top of the chest. My bed is under the window so it's easier to make (it's a captain's bed with drawers in it, so it was a pain to make when it was tucked into a corner). My bookcase is in the corner on the opposite side of the bed and I'll put a futon along that wall for any friends who may sleep over. For the moment, I just have a chair in that corner. I also have a large closet that takes up most of the wall facing my parents' room and my clothes don't even begin to take up the room. I'm just not a clothes horse.

Moving everything around gave me a chance to toss a lot of stuff I didn't need/use/want anymore. I went through my books and listed almost two dozen on Amazon.com, most of them at bargain prices. I just want to get rid of them. As well as the ones already listed. As a family, we donated seven bags' worth of clothes, shoes, bedding, and other miscellaneous stuff to Goodwill that I took there this morning. So, overall, it's been a productive vacation.

I'm sure I'll miss Ann once we've finished moving everything around. I'm too tired to really care at this point. Though, it seems strange to have only one person in this room. There's always been at least two for as long as I can remember. umbralillium even shared with us when we were little. To be honest, though, Ann and I had been drifting apart for years. We weren't as close as twins are supposed to be and we're too different in many ways. Don't get me wrong: I still love her, but we'll probably never be bosom buddies.
