Aside from giving me ideas for fics that I
don't need, watching the remake made me think about remakes in general. They're not meant to be re-creations of the original material. If they were, what'd be the point of them in the first place? Anyway, remakes are more re-interpretations of the original material than re-creations of them. This works great for plays and books because the translation from page to screen/stage always gives room for fudging details and such. Remakes don't always work for films, though. Fans of the original work will always compare the new version to the old. In cases where the original was quite good, it's a big job for the new version to stand up to the comparison and sometimes the new version just doesn't cut it.
( Review of The Music Man (2003) )School-wise, I'm doing fine. Finals are next week. My critical thinking teacher says I have 100% in the class as it is. I'm highly tempted to ask if I can skip the final altogether. That would allow me to focus all of my remaining study time on preparing for my calculus final. I doubt I'll fail if I bomb it completely, but I don't want to risk it. I don't want to fall behind in terms of taking math classes.
I've registered for next semester's classes already. I'll be taking Calculus II (provided I pass Calculus I, which is highly likely) and Introduction to Computer Information Systems. The latter is essentially Microsoft Office applications for Dummies. I could challenge it, except I don't know much about Excel or Access. Hence why I'm taking the class instead of challenging it.
