Went to the dentist on Thursday for a free consultation. They did an exam, took lots of X-rays and pictures. I go back next Wednesday to discuss what work needs to be done. From what the dentist said, it sounds like I'll be having quite a few extractions done, and then probably partials and crowns to protect what's left. NOT CHEAP. Eep!
Went to the bank to apply for a refinanced loan on my car (Allun) and the Sentra. The loan on Allun was going to be in my name only and the Sentra was going to be in my parents' name, jointly. Dad needed to sign the paperwork for their application, so it wasn't submitted until this evening. Mine was submitted this morning and, when I called for nows about it's progress, I learned that it'd been denied. I'd expected it would be. Some months, I don't even make $1,000 and some of that goes to pay my cell phone, credit cards, and car insurance. However, depending on what happens with my parents' application, we may try again with them as co-signers.
Speaking of jobs, I applied for a job as a tutor at WyzAnt. How it works is, if you need a tutor, you look up tutors in your area in the subjects you need help with, and the website will show a list of tutors. The student/parent will contact the tutor through the website and they will coordinate where to meet and when. The student/parent pays the website, who then turn around and pay the tutor. All I had to do was apply for a position as a tutor, list the subjects I can tutor, how far I'm willing to travel from home for a tutoring session, and when I'm available. My application hasn't been approved yet, but I don't see why it shouldn't. I've been tutoring off and on since October of 2002 and steadily since fall of 2007. To prove I know the subject areas I want to tutor in, I had to take mini-quizzes and I aced all of them. Even the European and World history ones. Of course, American students aren't supposed to know those very well anyway. *shrug* If this works out, it'll be nice to have some extra cash on hand. I think I'll put it all in savings, though.
