So, I'm working on a story where a police officer ends up requiring his legs to be amputated. It's set in the present, so the option of prosethic legs is available. However, he has to use a cane to help him walk. Being a young man in the prime of life, he hates how old and slow he feels using the cane. He prefers using a wheelchair to get around. My question is, what sorts of adjustments would he and his boyfriend need to make to account for the wheelchair? Their apartment is already wheelchair-friendly because the boyfriend has a cousin in a wheelchair. I have some ideas, but I'm hoping some of you who are more knowledgable about this sort of thing would be willing to help out. Thanks so much!
