My Hero...

Christmas was lovely. My twin, Ann, gave me an Amazon.com gift card that I used to buy Brave on Blu-ray (since we have a Blu-Ray player, might as well take advantage of it). My parents gave me a check to put towards whatever I want. Some of it went towards WoW, some went towards other things. After the new year, however, Mom and Dad had us start in on the latest project: painting the kitchen. It's amazing how much prep work went into getting it ready to paint. We had to clean all the shelves and walls (one of Ann's friends told us about this amazing de-greaser called Krud Kutter. It works SO well, omg). Then we had to sand to make sure the paint would bond. The ceiling was easy to do. Two coats of white and done. The cabinets not so much. They're medium/dark brown and Mom wants them white. So, we had to prime all the cabinets and now we're painting them. Once the cabinets are done, we'll do the walls (green), and then Mom'll decide what color she wants the drawers and doors: white or green. It wouldn't be so bad except some of these cabinets are pretty deep, so it makes it awkward to get in and paint them. I did all six shelves of our pantry, primer and paint. I'm exhausted. I don't know how the professionals do this kind of stuff day in and day out. I can't veg out for the rest of the day, though. There's more cabinets to be painted and I can't leave my brother to do them all.

In fannish news, my sibs and I went to see The Hobbit in theatres the Thursday after Christmas. We loved it. Martin Freeman was wonderful as Bilbo (knew he would be, after seeing him in Sherlock) and Richard Armitage made a magnificently sexy Thorin Oakenshield (I'm shallow, I know).
