This is going to be babble about World of Warcraft. If you don't care, go ahead and skip it.
So, just over a week ago, I was able to get the recipe for the Mekgineer's Chopper on my highest-level engineering toon. Pretty much wiped out the gold I had across all of my alliance toons on that server to buy the mats so I could make the damn thing. I decided my next project would be to make the Sandstone drake mount. That meant getting my alchemist's archeology high enough that she could do dig sites in Uldum. No problem. She was on Northrend dig sites already. After doing a few more, I realized she probably already was high enough for Cata dig sites, she just needed to do a few dig sites in Old World zones to get one of the Cata sites to show up. Dummy me went to Eastern Kingdoms first. Then it occurred to me that, if I wanted Uldum sites to pop up, I had to do dig sites in Kalimdor. *facepalm* So I switched continents (luckily, she's a mage. That was simple enough) and did some dig sites in Un'Goro. Checked the map and there was a dig site in Uldum! So I fly down to do my archeology. By the time I finished with that site, I didn't quite have enough fragments to put the artifact together. So I go do another site, this one in Desolace. That just gave me another site in that zone. I'd seen one in Feralas, though, so I head down to that one. After I finish that one, it gave me a site in Uldum. Perfect! I can finish that first artifact and get the achievement. So I head down there (same dig site as before, come to think of it) and start digging. Once I have enough pieces, I open up the window to solve it and finally notice what artifact it was: canopic jar! Oh, wow, I have a chance at the recipe right off the bat! So I solve it and right click the icon in my bag and--holy shit, there it is! I never have this kind of luck! *keels over*
umbralillium was watching at that point and high-fived me. I was little surprised that she didn't express any jealousy. Found out today that she hadn't realized that it was my first artifact and my first canopic jar. She tried for months to get the recipe and never did. Now she's trying on another toon.
Of course, now I need to save up the money for the mats. It won't be as easy this time around, since most of my cash is on my Horde toons now. :-P I'll make it work, though. Then it's a matter of getting my jewelcrafter up to make the mounts from the Order of the Cloud Serpent.
