One of our cats, Silver, hasn't been doing well recently. Her stomach just ballooned back in March or April. Mom and Dad took her to the vet last month and it turned out she was retaining water in her stomach. The vet gave us medication for her, but it didn't do much good. She hasn't been getting around much and eating and drinking very little. So, this morning, Mom and I took her to the vet and came home with an empty carrier. The vet told us that he thinks she had a tumor in her stomach and that's why she was retaining water. She was Dad's cat and very noisy. She got one last meow in before she was gone. Silver was about 9 years old. Maybe 10. Rest in peace, baby girl. I hope you can run around and eat chicken to your heart's content.

Too bad your vet could not offer a different way out of the trouble. An X-Ray might have shown the reason for the obstruction and saved Silver's life. At least it would have shown that the empty carrier was needed to reduce the suffering. However, I know cost would have been placed in the equation as well... Perhaps, this was the only way...
What is done, is done, and I hope Silver is now near the Rainbow Bridge... I pray for peace for your heart.
